Somebody in our circle of friends or family is going through a crisis of some sort. He (f/m/nb) is wanting to be a role model, wanting to teach others, but falling short in skills and knowledge. This is frustrating and can potentially lead to unwise behavior. This can include overspending, picking fights with loved ones and breaking off commitments. We need to form an opinion about something but we feel irritated about it. We do not seem to have enough time and are tempted to just decide something and be done with it. However understandable this is, we do run the risk of losing the nuances of the issue at hand, trading time-efficiency against causing damage in the long run. It is so tempting to start a new project to pour all our enthusiasm and energy into...but is this the right time? If we are honest with ourselves, did we properly finish the last project we started? We can be confronted with neglect today. Either we feel that someone who should take care of us is not doing their job, or that we are not doing it ourselves.So this is something we want to look into. Alternatively it doesn't hurt to contact our actual mother (not necessarily our bio mom but a person that fulfills that role for us) to make sure that they are alright. Like the moon lighting up the dark night for us, our intuition can shed light on the murkiest of problems. Intuition is often viewed as something a little bit suspect. Sometimes we do not even refer to our intuition as such, we call it 'gut feeling' or even 'instinct' in an effort to normalize what we feel. Essentially it all comes down to the same thing: we posses knowledge that comes to us via emotion and bodily sensations in stead of via cognition and thought-processes. And is is often as viable information as is the stuff our brain comes up with. Being intuitive is a skill, not a lack of intellect. We have a lot of responsibilities in the world and we feel obligated to support and nourish just about everybody and their uncle. It is time to realize that half of the duties we feel are ours, are actually not ours to bear at all. If we want the people around us to grow up and become strong and independent, we need to acknowledge their autonomy. So let's back off and grant our loved ones some space to make their own decisions and make their own mistakes. Sometimes we have to lovingly decide that this is not our circus and these are not our monkeys!

The Sword cuts away what isn't needed anymore, uncovering that what matters. It's like weeding: take away what is not wanted and give room to what is wanted. We need to decide on something. No more contemplating or weighing pros and cons: it is time to come to an conclusion. And remember: not taking action is also a choice, but one in which we allowed our agency to dissipate, leaving us no other option than to follow somebody else's decision. It is tempting to avoid dealing with a tricky situation or a difficult problem by ignoring it's existence. Withdrawing, for example by sleeping a lot more than usual, is one of the many strategies we can employ to avoid the confrontation with our responsibilities. Often this is an unconscious mechanism , so let's be on our guard; are we exceptionally tired and do we want to sleep all the time? Maybe it is our body's  way of expressing the discomfort we feel with a situation that we really need to resolve. Let us no longer postpone this duty but get it done as soon as we can. We will feel liberated once we've done it.

First I want to wish each and every reader of these Daily Casts a strong, healthy and happy 2023! The first cast of this year is an appropriate one: There is much fun to be had in preparing for a future event that we might forget to firmly anchor that event in the now. When we go to fast we might end with failure. We have to restrain ourselves a little; tomorrow just has to wait until we are properly done with today. In light of the numerous good intentions that we swore to uphold this new year I would say: moderation in everything. Diet and exercise only in healthy ways!
